Question – State any four causes of unemployment in India
Answer-
Causes of Unemployment
- Population expansion – The rate of increase in population is more than the employment rate. Due to which unemployment is increasing day by day.
- Slow growth rate – Our economy is underdeveloped and an agrarian economy due to which our growth rate is slow. Due to which we are not able to provide sufficient employment opportunities.
- Backward and stagnant agriculture – Almost 50% of the population is employed in primary sector majorly in agriculture but the methods and techniques used for agriculture is outdated and lack of irrigation facility makes it worse. This increases the unemployment in rural areas.
- Limited mobility of labour- The mobility of labour in India is very low. Due to various social and other constraints labours are not willing to migrate from one place to another and due to which there is surplus of labour in one place and shortage at other place. This factor also contributes in unemployment.
