Question – “The efforts of the government in generating employment can be broadly classified into two categories.” Comment.

Answer –

After independence both the union and the state government has played a very important role in creating job opportunities. Their efforts are categories in two category

  1. Direct
  2. Indirect.

In the first category the government operates different enterprises and hires people directly and that will increase the employment directly in the economy.

When the output increases by the government sector in the economy then the private sector who buy raw material from the government will also increase their production and to increase their production they will hire more of employees so that will also increase the employment level indirectly in the economy.

Apart from that government has introduced employment generation programs in which government has in tried to increase the employment opportunities and with that government has provided several services like rural drinking water, nutrition, primary health, primary education etc.
