Question – Write a note on changing structure of employment
Answer –
Primary sector was the main source of occupation at the time of independence around 72.72% of the population was engaged in primary sector,17.26% in tertiary sector and 10.02 in secondary sector. The population has shifted from farm to non-farm activities. The percentage of population in secondary sector has risen to 24.4% which is a noticeable change but not significant. The percentage of population in tertiary sector has risen to 31 % but still our economy is viewed as agrarian economy as around 44.6% of the population is still occupied in primary sector.
